Hand Speed

Hand speed is how fast the artist moves the hand over the skin while working. It is a variable of execution, not a product specification, and has no standard unit of measure.

Why it matters: It is cited in guides because its relationship with the machine's speed changes the result. It should be read as a concept, not a value.

Related: Machine Speed, Pass, Stroke, RPM.
